Getting Started

What is CrispVid?+

CrispVid is a browser-native AI video upscaler. Upload any video, choose your target quality (2K or 4K SUPERSCALE), and receive an AI-enhanced version — with no software to install and no local GPU required. Processing is handled by CRISPCORE™, our cloud AI enhancement pipeline.

How is CrispVid different from desktop video upscaling software?+

Desktop video upscaling applications require a powerful local GPU, software installation, and ongoing subscription fees. CrispVid runs in your browser on any device and charges per job with no subscription. The AI processing runs on professional cloud GPU infrastructure — you get professional-grade results without the hardware investment or license overhead.

What video formats does CrispVid accept?+

CrispVid accepts MP4, MOV, and WebM video files. Output is delivered as H.264 MP4.

Do I need an account to use CrispVid?+

Yes — an account is required to purchase and use credits. Sign in with Google or via an email verification code (no password needed). Account creation takes under 30 seconds.

What browsers are supported?+

Chrome 90+ and Edge 90+ are fully supported and recommended. Safari 17+ on macOS works fully. Firefox supports most features with slightly longer final output time on some devices. Mobile browsers are not recommended due to memory constraints when assembling high-resolution output.

Processing & Quality

How long does AI video upscaling take?+

Processing time depends on your video's length, resolution, and selected quality tier. The app shows a live progress indicator with an estimated time to completion. Longer videos and higher quality tiers take more time. A queue position may be shown if capacity is temporarily at limit.

What is the difference between 2K SUPERSCALE and 4K SUPERSCALE?+

2K SUPERSCALE outputs at 1440p short edge (2560×1440 for standard 16:9 content). 4K SUPERSCALE outputs at 2160p short edge (3840×2160). Both use AI super-resolution to sharpen edges, recover texture, and reduce compression artifacts. The 4K tier requires more processing (and more credits) and produces a higher-resolution output. For content intended for large screens or professional delivery, 4K SUPERSCALE is recommended.

What input resolution gives the best results?+

Any resolution can be enhanced. For 2K SUPERSCALE, 360p and above is recommended. For 4K SUPERSCALE, 540p and above. Below these thresholds, AI upscaling still delivers meaningful quality improvement, but the output may not match viewer expectations for true 2K or 4K content. You'll see an advisory if your input is below the recommended floor — processing always proceeds regardless.

Can CrispVid upscale old home videos and archival footage?+

Yes, and this is one of its strongest use cases. Old footage — VHS captures, early digital camera recordings, legacy screen recordings — typically contains heavy compression artifacts, blur, and noise. CRISPCORE™ uses an AI model specifically trained on degraded real-world imagery, which performs significantly better on archival content than models trained only on clean synthetic data.

Can I upscale game recordings, screen captures, or animation?+

Yes. CrispVid works on any video content — live footage, game captures, screen recordings, animation. CRISPCORE™ performs well on synthetic content like animation and game footage.

Credits & Pricing

How do credits work?+

CrispVid uses a prepaid credits system. 1 credit = $0.01 USD. Credits are consumed when you submit a job; the exact cost depends on your video's input resolution, frame count, and target quality (2K or 4K). The cost is shown before you confirm processing — no surprises.

When are my credits charged?+

Credits are charged at the moment you click Begin SUPERSCALE — not when you upload, and not on completion. This is the point at which processing is committed.

Can I cancel a job after it starts?+

There is no cancel option once processing has begun. Credits are charged at the point of submission. If your job fails due to a verified error on our end before processing starts, we will review the case and may issue a credit adjustment at our discretion. Contact support with your job details.

Do credits expire?+

No. Credits do not expire. Buy when convenient, use whenever you need.

What are the available credit packages?+

CrispVid offers three tiers: Starter (666 credits / $9.99), Standard (5,000 credits / $49.99), and Pro (27,000 credits / $199.99). Larger packages have a lower per-credit cost.

What if I don't have enough credits for a job?+

You'll see an insufficient credits message before processing begins. Top up from the Get Credits menu at any time.

Privacy & Security

Is my video stored permanently on CrispVid's servers?+

No. Video content is processed in a secure, isolated environment and is not retained beyond a limited post-processing period. We retain only the metadata necessary to maintain your account and job history. See our Privacy Policy for full details on data handling.

Who can see my videos?+

Video content is handled in an isolated processing environment. We do not review or access your video content as a matter of policy. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Can I use CrispVid for commercial projects?+

Yes. You own the output. CrispVid makes no claim on enhanced video produced from your uploads.

Troubleshooting

My upload is very slow — what should I do?+

Upload speed depends on your connection and video file size. Frames upload directly over your own internet connection. Try a wired connection or wait for off-peak hours if speed is consistently slow. The app shows real-time upload progress.

Processing seems stuck — what's happening?+

If there is a queue (more jobs submitted than available processing capacity), your job waits before work begins. The app shows your queue position and an estimated wait time. Once a worker is assigned, the progress bar advances based on real throughput.

What happens if processing fails?+

If your job encounters an error, it will be marked as failed. Contact support at hi@crispvid.com with your job details and we will review the case. Credit adjustments are assessed on a case-by-case basis depending on the nature and timing of the failure.

The output video has audio sync issues — what went wrong?+

Audio sync issues can occur with variable frame rate (VFR) source videos. If you encounter this, try converting your source to constant frame rate (CFR) before uploading using a tool like HandBrake. Contact support if the issue persists.
